My Journey into Web Design

"I believe there’s something to learn from every experience — and that’s the mindset I bring to every project."

Hi, I’m Nils Dierauer.

I’m 35 years old and based in Switzerland.

I didn’t start out in a creative field. For years, I worked as a CNC machinist — precise, technical, but never fulfilling.

One day, almost on a whim, I built my first website — the one shown here. It wasn’t meant to be anything serious, just curiosity.

But the mix of design, structure, and problem-solving clicked immediately. It set me on a new path.

Sometimes, one small moment is all it takes to discover what truly brings you joy.

I didn’t come from a design background, so I’ve had to learn everything from the ground up — by building, experimenting, and improving on my own.

After a long phase of self-directed learning, I came across a video course by Sam Crawford (bycrawford.com), one of the top Squarespace designers. His content gave me real insight — not just into layout and design, but also how to approach projects with clarity and structure.

Today, I focus on creating clean, user-friendly Squarespace websites that look great and genuinely support what my clients want to achieve.

Not a polished work photo — just a bit of the real me. And that’s part of the story.
